How about "Neighbors In My Back Yard?" Last year the State of Colorado passed Proposition 123, adding an income tax to fund affordable housing across the state. While this passed with just over 52% of the vote statewide, 70% of Louisville voters said yes. This tells me two things. First, we understand how big of an issue this is in our community. Second, we're willing to put our money where our mouth is and do something about it.
I am excited to lead the the way on this issue for our community and get results. We need to accelerate the city's role in creating more affordable housing to ensure access to people of all income levels. This work is easy to support in theory. I promise to keep pushing in the face of opposition that ALWAYS comes once a location is determined.
As you read through the other five pillars of my campaign, I will bring Affordable Housing up in each section to illustrate the ripple effect of this issue.
Affordable Housing is good for the environment, for our economy, for diversity, and for community building. It will even help us rebuild after the fire.
